Stan Winston, creator of such creatures like Predator and Pumpkinhead, has done it again with a series of frightful figures from the updated television special Creature Features. From the episode "Teenage Caveman" comes a mutant with an attitude. With the world crumbling around them, a band of teenagers must leave their cave homes. The seemingly perfect humans they encounter actually turn out to be genetic experiments that can turn into frightening creatures. This Future Mutant figure sports decent facial sculpting and a beautiful paint job. Having only eight points of articulation doesn't enable much action, but the figure isn't meant for play. Once the easy-to-assemble diorama has been built, this set is solid and fairly large. Clearly, a lot of attention was given to ensure everything fit together and it's apparent that the concept was a success. Future Mutant also comes with a CD-ROM showing how the figure was made, the story behind it, and a sneak peek of the upcoming lines from Stan Winston Studios. --A. Galindo
